The Livinator! – The HSD Team Latitude is about Triathlon

While the rest of the team are fighting for overall Line Honors, Liv is fighting her own Battle!

OK, Liv isn’t a pro, or a semi pro, in fact she is far from it. BUT Liv is on board because she epitomizes what Triathlon is about! Guts, Determination and overcoming all obstacles! I could argue that her courage is greater than any others on this list of Elite Athletes.

No, we won’t be bringing amateurs into the mix, but Liv was asked to get on board because of the exact reason she is doing Triathlon! We wish her all the best, and look forward to being part of her journey!

Liv has not only made triathlons her passion but has changed her whole world around. Last year, Liv had started her journey in beating obesity and overcoming depression. Her first Triathlon started at Tri-Port weighing in at 120kg and only a couple of months into her new fitness regime. This was a quite challenging task for Liv, but at the end of the day she didn’t let anything get in her way and completed it in 1hr48min. Her passion grew stronger and stronger by training for 6 days a week. Seven months after her fast Triathlon, she competed in the same course at Coral Coast Triathlon and beat her time by 60mins. “My weakest leg at the time was defiantly the swim, pretty much coming out last (55th position)” explains Liv. “However, the strongest leg is the bike. I moved from 55th position into 1st for the females category”.

OH, and by the way, she has also been recruited into the Team as the “Head of Media”.. Go Liv..

Check out her Video! Inspiring stuff….

Release the Young Guns – Dan Robins

Well guys, the Team Latitude talent scouts have been out in force looking for the future champions of our great sport! I reckon we may have one right here, Dan Robins, brother of Mitch. If Dan is anything like his brother then guts wont be an issue for Dan. I still have vivid memories of Mitch bent over on the side of Four Mile Beach near death, but he battled on and came 4th. Thats what its about.

Anyway, Back to Dan. Not much can be said about Dan Robins at this stage, he is relatively untested and is keen to sharpen his teeth on long course racing! So no better place to start than the O2 Creations Tri-Port Half Iron distance triathlon in Port Douglas on the 1st of Sepember.

We will be anxiously watching Dan, after all he is exactly what this team is about. Getting the young guys and giving them a chance to hit it out with the big boys in a tough race without all the bells and whistles of a big event.

Just a tip Dan, Port Douglas is not a glamour race! No crowds lining the streets or thousands of competitors to spur you on during the lonely solo bike ride through the Cane Fields. The o2 Creations Tri-Port is about you and the course! Brutal is an understatement. No room for show ponies in Port :-)

Welcome aboard mate!

First of the Big News… Welcome ladies…

Well guys we have some huge news to announce a bit later today, but I will start off by confirming a few of the Female members of Team Latitude

Nicole Ward – Pro triathlete

Welcome on board Nicole Ward, for those of you inthe know this is no surprise, Nicole has given Port Douglas the joy of her racing in the past and was already entered into the O2 Tr-Port Half iron Distance triathlon, so we of course had to lure her accross to be involved with the Team. Great to have her on board to assist us to promote this awesome sport!

A bit about Nicole:

Since competing in the sport of Triathlon Nicole progressed quickly into the professional ranks within Australia, becoming the 2008 Professional Australian Long Course Triathlon Champion and a consistent podium finisher in Half Ironman and Ironman distance events across Australia and overseas. Nicole’s key achievement in 2009 was placing second at Ironman Japan in a highly competitive international field, which earned her a spot to race at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.

Nicole was always very athletic as a child and competed at Australian National level for swimming and running over Cross Country and 800/1500m track distance events. After 10 years out of competition and racing, she took up Triathlon in 2005 and has never looked back. In her first season Nicole placed second in the NSW State Olympic Distance Championships and second in the NSW State Sprint Distance Series for her age group. From there Nicole decided to make the step up to the Half Ironman and Ironman distance events.
