The Story: Mitch grew up in Geelong and was an average all-rounder at school on and off the track. He moved to Melbourne after completing his formative years at Geelong College in 1993.
Mitch is now a professional triathlete and over-qualified to be a full-time athlete from an academic perspective! He began as a physio, smattered some exercise physiology into the mix before finishing as a medical doctor in 2006! He started racing as a full time professional in 2008.
Mitch has been an Ironman triathlete since 2000 and completed 24 Ironman triathlons, almost all under the magical 9 hour barrier. His fastest Ironman is 8h 12m and fastest bike split is 4h 18m (almost 42km/h!!). He has 5 Ironman Hawaii finishes to go with 6 Ironman Australia triathlon palmares. He excels on the bike, regularly riding race records and bike primes, with an ability to get off and run under 3 hours for the marathon.
Mitch’s best results include an 11 th overall at Ironman Hawaii and 1 st at Ironman WA 2005. He owns the bike course records at IM Australia, IM Western Australia, IM Japan and Geelong 70.3
